Weather: All four games will features the beautiful weather conditions of Morrowind, appropriate to the particular areas. You may experience snow fall in Spielburg, Dust storms in Shapier, monsoon rains in Tarna, or thunder storms in Mordavia. Some places (such as Spielburg and Mordavia) will have several weather conditions.

Thieving Abilities: Unlike the original Quest for Glory® series, the Thief character in the mod will have much more flexibility in what jobs he does. In theory, the Thief can pick any lock or disable any trap to steal even before the eyes of another character, so long as he is sneaking. The thief will use the Morrowind skills of Security and Sneak to pick locks, disarm traps and sneak around.

Magic: The magic system existing in Morrowind will most likely be used. All the spells from QFG1-5 will be available in the mod, however, teachers for each spell will be restricted to each episode, so basically, spells will be available in the same order as the games. There will be some additional spells, however they will not be anywhere near as many as morrowind. It hasn't been decided wheather or not to include the feature to create your own spells.

Day & Night, Eating & Sleeping: Much like the original games, you will have to eat and sleep to stay healthy and active. Likewise, time will progress from day to night.

Things we will need help with: We will need help with the following:

  • Creating the world maps for Spielburg, Shapeir, Tarna and Mordavia (Possibly Silmaria) Creating new models for each of the areas, both inside and out. Scripting of characters and events.
  • Scripters to add or limit features to the morrowind engine, making things more like QFG.

We are now recruiting. If you think you can assist us in this monumental task, the write to the following email address:

This is the game that started it all. Hero Quest was released back in 1989, but the name was required to be changed because it shared the same name as another game. It was renamed to Quest for Glory: So you want to be a hero?

  • Storyline true to the original game, with all the characters and quests of the original and maybe a few extras.
  • The Goblin Maze that the Coles wanted to include in the original, but never made it.
  • A few new monsters to fight in the valley of Spielburg
  • Several new personalities to meet and perhaps help out.
  • Some new areas, including:
    • A crypt in the graveyard.
    • More caverns to explore in the Kobold Cave.
    • Explore Erasmus' home.
    • Sneak into the castle as the thief.
  • More jobs for the Thief character to indulge in.

After defeating the Baba Yaga and freeing the Barony of the curse you are now the hero of Spielburg. You have left the valley for Shapier, a land in peril overshadowed by a prophecy of evil.

  • Storyline true to the original game, with all the characters and quests of the original and maybe a few extras.
  • The Saurus Repair Shop that the Coles wanted to include in the original, but never made it.
  • Face off with new and old creatures of the desert.
  • Many more quests.
  • Explore in first person the cities of Shapier and Rasier:
    • Explore the emense sewer system.
    • Leap from rooftop to rooftop as the thief to avoid the city guards.
    • Enter homes and residences, invited or uninvited.
  • A thief will be able to earn a REAL living in Shapier.

After defeating your arch nemisis Ad Avis, the Sultan of Shapier, your adopted father, requests you acompany the Liontaur Paladin, Rakeesh to his homeland of Tarna, which is on the brink of war.

  • Storyline true to the original game, with all the characters and quests of the original and many extras.
  • Many all new quests to increase the playability. Explore the land of Tarna first hand, and not from a game map!
  • A few new monsters to fight in the valley of Spielburg.
  • Explore in first person the cities of Shapier and Rasier:
    • A giant maze beneath the great pyramid.
    • Giant Ant hill/nest - you can kill the queen to rid the land of infestation.
    • Explore the lairs of the crocodile men.
    • Sneak into and explore the Leopardman village.
  • More jobs for the Thief character to indulge in, the ability to pickpocket merchants, etc.
  • Raid the Liontaur section of the city!

Many people over the years have commented that they felt that Wages of War felt rushed, and of course the original game had several bugs that made finishing the game a real challenge. With this section of the mod, we hope to expand on the land of Tarna to make the game more enjoyable and perhaps provide a much needed background for the villain of the story. Time will tell.

Having sent the deamon back to his own dimension, and preventing war in the land of Tarna, you are mysteriously teleported to some unknown, dark place right before the eyes of your friends and companions. You black out and find yourself in a strange new place, a dark cave in the gothic land of Mordavia.

  • Storyline true to the original game, with all the characters and quests of the original and many extras.
  • A much larger area to explore!
  • A few new monsters to fight in the dark valley of Mordavia.
  • Some new areas, including:
    • Sewers beneath Mordavia.
    • Much larger castle.
    • Tomb in the swamp.
    • Larger villiage of Mordavia.
  • Learn about the roots of the Dark One Cult, and the story of the Borgov Family.
  • Help Dr. Cranium with Frankie.
  • Meet the Daughter of Nickolai and Anna, Natasha, and her son Alexi, a devoted fan of heroes.

Recreating the dark land of mordavia will be my favourite section to work on, so expect it to be the best part of the entire mod.

The last and final episode of the Quest for Glory series was well recieved by some, but rejected by many. Many people feel that the last game felt rushed, and much of the wonderful story and humour of the first four games was sacrificed for 'spiffy' 3D graphics, which quite frankly were not all that good.

This project will most likely not include the Dragonfire section of the game, for one of two reasons. That being that while attaining a copy of dragonfire can be difficult, it is easy to run, even on windows 2000 with a simple patch. The second is that not many of us involved with the project liked the game, so rather than remake something that we don't love, we're just going to leave an open ending to the finale of Shadows of Darkness.
